With so much information at your fingertips, it's good to have a professional guide you through your skincare journey. Enter Onetta Harris, Esthetician, and Founder of Pura Lumi Spa. Onetta has been a skincare enthusiast all her life and is now servicing clientele from the West Coast to the South at her local spa here in California.
Onetta took some time to answer a few questions between clients so we all could get a sneak peek of the mind of this skincare specialist. Take a look at what she had to say about skin health, relaxation, and things we can't live without.
It's clear that you have a passion for skincare and skin health. When did you realize you could turn that passion into a profession, and how did you get started?
I realized I could turn my passion for skincare into a profession shortly after I had my son. I was on maternity leave and really had to think hard about my career and if this was my true passion. I have always loved skincare and helping others. Becoming an esthetician was a way to fulfill both of those passions and I researched esthetician programs upon moving to San Diego. San Diego City College had THE BEST esthetician program in the area. Couldn't have picked a better foundation to start my journey in Esthetics!
What's your personal skincare routine?
I cleanse and exfoliate every evening and follow up with a serum or moisturizer. I am also obsessed with anti-aging and live for a good SPF. Protecting our skin from the sun is key!
What's the most common misconception you've heard as it pertains to skincare?
Regular maintenance and investing in good products for your skin is overrated, I can use bar soap and a washcloth and be just fine….NO!! Invest in good products and take care of your skin! Treat YOSELF!
What does the ultimate day of relaxation look like for you?
A hot day poolside, lathered up in some UVA/UVB fighting sunscreen, wearing a huge floppy hat with a mimosa in one hand and a good book in the other.
